Minister of Education, Hon. Priya Manickchand has said each student returning to school will undergo a diagnostic assessment once schools reopen.

Schools will be closed for both virtual and face-to-face learning from December 18, 2020, to January 4, 2021, for the Christmas holidays but when the new term begins, only the current Grades 10, 11 and 12 students, who are preparing to write the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE), will return to the classrooms, Education Minister, Priya Manickchand has clarified.

While delivering remarks on Saturday at the ‘Celebration Day’ event hosted by the First Assembly of God Wortmanville Church, the Honourable Minister of Education Priya Manickchand disclosed that more than 2000 students have not turned out to school and sadly the reasons range from not having school uniform and school supplies to entering the workforce to not having transportation and money for same as well as fear of the pandemic.
